More Than a ‘Scale and Polish’

Our patient had been avoiding the dentist for over 10 years and was very self conscious of her teeth.

Prior to visiting us, she had extreme dental anxiety, had never seen a hygienist and was made to feel embarrassed by her previous dentist. She also suffered with bleeding when brushing and struggling to floss.

Over a few visits Lilly got this patient to know and trust us, alleviating her fears and providing reassurance. She also taught her how to keep their mouth happy and healthy with detailed oral hygiene advice and demonstrations. Furthermore she completed non-surgical periodontal therapy, which involved gum care and calculus removal.

After seeing Lilly for some gum TLC she is now at ease, loves attending appointments and has gained confidence in her smile.

Our patient is now educated in how to keep their teeth healthy, much more confident in the dental practice and happier with their smile.

It is important to create a good oral hygiene routine, to look after your teeth and gums. This will prevent decay and gum disease, keeping your smile bright and breath fresh. More than ever, we should be prioritising our oral health: gum disease may increase the risk of other health complications. More recently there have been proven links with gum disease and hospitalisation with covid. Covid-19 patients are 4.5 times more likely to need a ventilator, 3.5 more likely to be sent to ICU and 9 more times likely to die.

It’s never to late to start looking after your teeth and oral health.

If your gums bleed when brushing or flossing, call us on 0161327 2878 to book your Initial Hygiene appointment today.
